PUNE-RAJASTHAN-PUNE 2014 with Ovee

It has been three years that Tejas and I took an inter-state road trip to Leh. As we complete five years of marriage this month, we are set to take off another road trip next month. Driving our car. With Ovee. For 16 days. In Rajasthan. Just the three of us.

It has been long due that we hit the road and we are as excited as we were before going to Leh. However, without hiding the truth, we are more skeptical this time about Ovee adjusting to this long journey. So trusting our six-months-long planning, our efforts to consciously push our travel excitement on Ovee and relying that we have passed on enough travel genes to her, we start our trip in three weeks.

We have selected the places based on our interest and Shivya Nath's blog. Having no interest in temples, following are the places we will be going to

Bap village, Phalodi district

Khimsar
Jaipur
Chittorgarh

THE START June 11 -Pune to Vapi (292 kms) We began the ride from Aundh at 7 am. Our friends -Ajay Kolhatkar, Rahul Nagpure, Ketan Pasalkar, Aniket Sawant and my parents had come to see us off. Kumaon stories part I: Askote -When the king hosted us

An Introduction King Bhanu Raj Singh Pal -the ceremonial King of Askote with Tejas Askote was one of our most awaited destinations during the Uttarakhand -Kumaon roadtrip. It is a small village of about 2500 people, 30 km from the Indo-Nepal border. The main attraction here is  the Jauljibi mela -a 103 year old market where traders from China, Nepal, and India come together to sell their goods and the confluence of Kali and Gori ganga rivers...not to mention the mesmerizing mountain views. While planning, Yogesh Sarkar of bcmtouring.com suggested that the current ceremonial king of Askote -Rajwar Bhanu Raj Singh Pal offers accommodation. We called him up and he agreed to give us a room. He refused to take any advance booking amount and reserved the room for us on just  sending our name and address. Pune-Leh-Pune bike trip

After biking for 20 days across nine states in extreme rain, heat, cold and altitude we returned yesterday with a lot of stories and lifetime experience! I thought a lot about how to pen it down on this blog and have decided to make it partly as an everyday account and partly categorise the experiences into some heads -which would make it more interesting and informative to those who are planning a similar trip. Part I consists of the journey from Pune to Manali and the return journey from Ludhiana to Pune. Part II is all about Manali to Leh road, information about our stay, various experiences and so on...
